Diva of the Month - Amy Hall - Part 3 (Ten Silly Questions)

This week we're asking our November Diva, Amy Hall, Ten Silly Questions.

1. What is on your nightstand…list everything!

My laptop, my alarm clock, my iPhone, and a Harry Potter book I am reading at the moment.

2. If we were visiting, and starving and you weren’t home…what could we find in your pantry / fridge to use to whip up a meal?

Some of the stuff in my fridge is not fit for consumption – so make sure you check the expiry dates and sniff the milk first please! We usually have milk and cereal, a big tub of peanut butter and bread, protein bars, and of course staples like rice and pasta. Fruit in the fridge, and textured vegetable protein type items. Smoothie ingredients like frozen fruit in the freezer. Lots of canned beans and soups in the cupboard. You might find ice cream or cookies but we try to keep that stuff out of the house. If I have exams, I often deal with it by baking, so you might even find fresh chocolate chip cookies!

3. Favorite color and how does this show up in your bead work?

I don't think I could pick one. Anything bright or bold. I love purple, I love blue, I love red, I love pink, green, yellow, orange... I don't know where to start, I really do just love colours.

4. Making beads is solitary work. How do you handle that? If you listen to music / watch videos, please share some of your playlist.

I listen to audiobooks sometimes, or music. Some of my favorite artists right now are Coldplay, Beck, Lady Gaga, Dave Matthews, The Beatles, Hawksley Workman, Dido, Muse, Moby, Tegan & Sara, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I am currently working my way through an audiobook of "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin - a series I have read in paper form twice now but am "rereading" in audio format because HBO is making a tv show about it that is coming out next year!! (I'm very excited about this).

5. Describe the most fun day you’ve ever had.

Last year, some of my friends, my little brother and my sister in law, and my husband and I, all went to Treego at Wildplay Park. Basically it's a big obstacle course up in the treetops - you wear a harness so you don't die when you fall (cause you will slip and fall, at least you will if you're me). There are tricky parts you have to climb or maneuver, and balance, and parts you get to just ride along on ziplines. Not only was it super fun, but it was physically and mentally challenging in a way that made me feel really proud of myself when it was over. And I was sore for days but... it was worth it.

6. If you had one wish, what would it be?

To have more hours in the day. And the energy to fill them all.

7. Who do you most admire in glass and if you could take a class with that person, what would you most want to learn?

I don't know if I really have a glass “idol.” I am inspired by many of my fellow Fire Divas, and other lampwork artists I know through Lampwork Etc (the main lampwork forum that I participate in). I would love to get together with any of them and learn some tips and tricks.

8. What is the first thing you do when you get home?

Let the dog out, check email, get into pajamas. Not always in that order but usually those three things.

9. Do you have a day job? If yes, what is your favorite thing about it?

It's not quite a “day” job because I work evenings. I work as kind of a secretary/admin for a home nursing care program. I mostly take phone calls from people who need after hours help from a nurse. I go to school during the day, doing a BSc in Biology/Psychology, and I am about a month away from finishing my degree. I am hoping to have a career in some aspect of the healthcare field because I find medicine very interesting, and am currently working on getting into medical school.

10. Name three tv shows you watch but are kind of embarrassed about.

Oh my gosh, I am embarrassed by so many tv shows I watch. I am completely addicted to America's Next Top Model. Recently, I started watching Glee and I'm now hooked on that too. And for #3, I guess I would say Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Pretty sad I know :)

And, we'll see you next week with the Conclusion post!
