Our first featured DIVA of the month for April is Cherine...Her Etsy Shop, Flamecrazy...I've had the pleasure of working with Cherine and KimV on the LEST blog doing the Featured Artists post...
Here is my interview with Cherine...I hope you Enjoy...Tell me a little bit about yourself...
I was born and raised outside of Detroit, Michigan. I currently live in Carmel, Indiana with my DH Josh and my sons Gabriel(5) and Brody(2). I have traveled extensively as a Flight Attendant for 14 years am now a stay at home mom.
What made you want to become a lampwork artist?...I had taken a basic jewelry stringing class while living in Orlando, FL. I was at my favorite bead store and picked up some really lovely beads that I thought were way overpriced. So I asked the lady at the counter if it was a typo. She informed me that they are handmade glass beads and that the price was correct. I didn’t buy the beads but took home a pamphlet of classes offered there by Lance and Maureen McRorie. That first basic lampworking class was like finding a soul mate.
How long have you been sharing your work with the public?...
That first class was in 1999, so I have been selling for 10 years.
Where do you find your inspiration?...
Nature is the best inspiration for me. I love taking long walks and taking mental notes of shades of flowers, winding creeks and leaf forms.
What other interests or hobbies do you enjoy?...
I love to do mosaics, gardening and hiking. My favorite past-time though is just hanging with the family in the the backyard and enjoying life!

What handmade possession do you cherish the most if any?...
We have a really cool pop-art painting by Lisa Grubb. It was handed down to us by my mother-in-law. I just love the story behind it though, she bought it from a street artist for $20 in New York outside MOMA. She told the artist that the cat needed eyebrows and she painted them on right there on the street. Now her paintings go for thousands but I would never part with it.Here is a link to Lisa Grubbs work http://www.lisagrubb.com/...
