So.  Very.  Cute.  I just couldn't resist the surprised looks on their little faces.  Can you?

The Fire Divas have all conspired to put together a Bead of the Day promotion, and as a result, Deirdre will give you 10% off these little guys because you saw them here first.  Buy them within 24 hours of this post hitting the blog to get your discount.

Diva of the Month Part 4 - Jamie Rose

I know everyone has had a great time learning more about our Diva of the Month, Jamie Rose. Now it's time to wrap up the four-part interview! Read on to see what else Jamie has to say.

Which of your secrets do we not know… is there something else you would like us to know about you or your work?

I am mainly self trained in lampworking. I took 3 classes, and read tons of books.

How has your work changed since you began?

Besides learning more skills and improving on them, not much has changed. I love making whimsical and fun beads. If you haven't smiled while looking at my beads, then I haven't done my job.

What is the biggest challenge you want to accomplish in the next few months?

I'd love to be able to build that studio I've been planning for 3 years now. I'm really hoping it will come true this summer.

What do you like about being a Fire Diva?

I love all my team mates! I'm so busy I don't get to spend enough time chatting with them, but they're all so understanding! They are a great bunch of gals, and their work is VERY inspiring! Just look at how talented they are!!

This Night at the Museum Easter Island Statue Lampwork Bead was made by Jaime Rose of Glasstastic Treasures (she is also our Diva of the Month). Jaime has tons of cute beads on her ArtFire shop. A lot of them with faces.

Check out her shop on Art Fire: HERE and her Etsy shop: HERE

Fantasy Shopping Saturday - Cool and Refreshing

As much of the country is now heating up, I'm thinking of glass art that is cool and refreshing, a contrast to the deep colors I had been enjoying recently.  Soft blues, mossy greens reminiscent of forest floors and cool running streams... Some of these just make me want to wade ankle-deep in a creek for a few hours.  Glass that evokes that type of desire in me is welcome around my house anytime :)  Don't we always need more refreshing jewelry?

Diva of the Month Part 3 - Jamie Rose

We are continuing our interview with Fire Diva Jamie Rose - now it's time to get silly!

1. What is on your nightstand…list
everything?

Lamp, earrings, water, lotion, alarm clock, dust

2. If we were visiting, and starving and you weren’t
home…what could we find in your pantry / fridge to use to whip up a
meal?

Cheese and miracle whip. Milk, the cereal's in the cupboard!

3. Favorite color and how does this show up in your bead
work?

Green and purple. It's EVERYWHERE in my beads. lol

4. Making beads is solitary work. How do you handle that???
If you listen to music / watch videos, please share some of your
playlist.

Music, music, music. I work in the garage, I torch, and hubby watches tv. it's very pleasant.

5. Describe the most fun day you’ve ever had.

College!! I met some of my very best friends there. I started when I was 29. So anyone can go to college and learn. I have a biology degree. can you believe that??

6. If you had one wish, what would it be???

To be able to make lampwork beads as my full time career.

7. Who do you most admire in glass and if you could take a class with that person, what would you most want to learn?

Wow, there are so many people. I'd love to be able to meet all my lampworking friends! But if I can pick only one person, it would be......Corina Tettinger. Her work is amazing, and her books are great. And she's funny too.

8. What is the first thing you do when you get
home?

Check my websites...usually email first then plurk.

9. Do you have a day job??? If yes, what is your favorite
thing about it???

I do have a day job. The best thing about it is that I get a ton of vacation, bankers hours, and paid holidays....and a paycheck to buy more glass.

10. Name three tv shows you watch but are kind of embarrassed about.

I'm not embarrassed about any of them. But I am a cartoon fanatic, and my husband doesn't understand that. The only thing that truly embarrasses me is when a tv show or movie makes me cry. Don't look!!

Stay tuned for the conclusion to Jamie's 4-part interview at the end of the month!
