Fire Divas Show Off October's Glass Beads

The days get shorter and  things just get... busier! All of the Fire Divas are feeling the effects of Fall!

Sonja of Silver River Glass Work has been feeling the pressure at her day job, filling in for a co-worker which leaves precious little time for torching glass beads. So she has set some goals for herself. Sonja is concentrating on hollow beads and scroll work as a way to focus her flame sessions! Great idea Sonja and the results are lovely:

Sonja also reports that she is so happy to have reclaimed her metalworking space from her son's snake! She plans to add more metal work projects to her shop soon! The snake had no comment on new accommodations.

Kids and shows are taking up Amy Sims time these days. She is most excited about her new leather bracelet designs that are selling like hotcakes!

Amy's next show is October 25th in East Hampton and is a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness. You can read about it on her blog.

Cindy of Cindy Lynne Glass is always busy chasing her pittie pup pack around but she's found time to work with more copper and making cuffs. She was most excited to show off a new focal glass bead:

Susanne  of Bab's Beads is thrilled to be finding herself behind her torch now that Fall is here. Isn't this bracelet just gorgeous?

Lara Lutrick is tripping ... road tripping that is... She and Lori Bergmann took a road trip to all their favorite glass and jewelry suppliers recently. The hit Frantz Artglass, Shipwreck Beads and Double Helix all in one day! Lara has also been busy doing inventory for tax season... Oy! What a task that is! Luckily, something elegant is always coming out of her torch.

Lara is celebrating her five year Etsy-versary but... the sale ends TODAY... so get over there soon!

Rose of Spawn of Flame has also found herself very busy at the day job but is very excited to show off her new "Candy Corn" set of beads:

And Holly of Holly's Folly Glass is happy to be back at the torch. Her current favorite bead is Punkin - a mini kitty with a leaf tail made from Tangerine Sparkle Glass.

That's what most of the Diva's are up to in October. We hope you will think of us when shopping for your holiday gifts!

Divas Getting Ready for Fall

Hard to believe we are halfway through September! The Fire Divas are all busier than ever!

The Divas are so excited that our very first fearless leader, Cindy of Cindy Lynne Designs has returned to the team! You are going to love getting to know her and her fun beads again! Cindy lives in the hot state of Florida and doesn't get to torch much in summer but always keeps a stash of beads back to list in her shop or to work on her beautiful copper pieces.

Sonja of Silver River Glassworks is focusing her energies on filling her Etsy shop this fall and taking the emphasis off doing shows. She is working on  a series of sets that will have two colors and three or four different designs with a pair of each color combo as part of the set.

Susanne of Babs Beads and Design is glad the hot summer is coming to an end and she too is getting her shop ready for fall.

Amy of Amy Sims Designs has a big show coming up next weekend!  She is most excited about her new Raku Flower Bead:

Lara Lutrick has done three bead shows this year and is making a lot of production beads (i.e. beads with silver wire, beads with silvered ivory stringer) in a rainbow of colors. Her favorite type of bead to make this time of year are Halloween beads, like these:

And Holly of Holly's Folly ~ Glass has been bitten by animals.... animal prints on glass beads that is:

The Divas all hope you are enjoying your fall!!! Please be sure to check our Fan Page for the latest glass bead designs from the Divas!

The Divas Are Still on Fire!

Looong time, no post! It seems the Divas have all moved on... No, we're all still glass fiends! But we all seem to be just a little to busy to do all this online marketing all the time. Really! It seems there's no time to torch artisan glass beads because we're always promoting artisan glass beads! Divas not happy!

But, we are still here... each of us doing our thing and plugging away! And...there are new photos on the fan page to admire! ;-)

Here's what some of us have been up to:

Susanne Folin / Babs Bead & Design: Busy spring. :) Yesterday I came back from a two day class with Corina Tettinger. Great fun! Looking forward to coming home to my torch, but first I have a few weeks vacation.

Lara Lutrick: I have been making beads like crazy for the ISGB Gathering show. I'm really looking forward to the Gathering in my back yard. I signed up for another Bead Soup Swap (EEEK, beads need to be mailed soon), Lori Bergmann and I made 2 trips to Seattle this week. One to buy glass and one to return glass (so silly, two trips).

Amy Lange Sims / Amy Sims Designs: It's summer, so I've been busy with the kids activities. We are all going to the Gathering, so I' really excited about that! I started on a floral series a few weeks ago.

Holly Dare / Holly's Folly Glass: I've been really busy traveling to be with my sister who is ill with lung cancer. Being with family has had to take priority. I've hand raised another dozen ducklings this spring and have been really busy with a diverse team of artisans on Etsy called PromoFrenzy. The team is all participating in Etsy's Christmas in July sale and really excited about it!

Bead of the Day, 9/16/11

Lots of fun things going on with the Divas!!! Our own Susanne of Babs Beads and Design has opened an Etsy shop and I simply ADORE one of her new listings!!!  She calls this small focal Late Bloomer and I don't know what it is about it...but it just speaks to me! I love all those blues and browns!!!

But that's not the ONLY exciting thing going on! Surely you've noticed the Say it with words bead challenge over there on the right??? Did you vote??? Did you leave a comment on the original blog post where we are having a drawing for $50 to my Holly's Folly Glass Bead shop??  And... did you know, I'm having a side contest?? Guess all the makers of all the beads and be entered into another drawing... and you don't have to get them all right!!!  If this gets a lot of votes, the Divas may hold a similar contest in the future!!  But you gotta play to win!!!

We hope you have a lovely weekend and be sure to pop in and check out fantasy shopping and gossip over the weekend!

Lampwork Glass Bead (Ring) of the Day 5-19-11

This fun cocktail ring "Flowers of Atlantis" is today's bead of the day. OK, it is not a beaad, but it is still lampworked, just without a hole.

Susanne of BabsBeadsandDesign has created this ring with a cabachon on a sterling silver ring that is adjustable, so it will fit most fingers. Isn't that great?!?

Check out Susanne's store for more jewelry and beads.

Glass Lampwork Bead of the Day for Monday, March 7th, 2011

A new week, a new Monday, and a new lovely bead featured from the Fire Divas!  Today's bead is a monochromatic beauty from Susanne Folin at Babs Beads & Design:
Grayscale Floral Lampwork Bead by Babs Beads & Design

It has a black core, white flowers, and bubbles at the center of each flower. This type of bead is not easy, as the flowers must be carefully encased and the bubbles precisely placed in the center prior to the entire bead being slowly wrapped in clear glass. See Susanne's ArtFire shop for more of her intricate work.

See what's new in the Fire Divas studios by visiting the ArtFire weekly chat thread and the Etsy weekly thread, each showcasing different beads.  Have a great week!

Bead of the Day - 2-4-11 - ArtFire Friday

This Goddess from Beadsbeadsanddesign is today's bead of the day. Susanne explains in her description that this is a grown women Goddess not a perky teen goddess. I thought it was a pregnant Goddess, with the glow of the green core. That is what is so cool about art; it can be what you want it to be. Susanne has etched this bead, so you know it feels great in the hand.

Stop by the ArtFire weekly thread to see what the other Fire Divas are up to, or mosey on over to Etsy. See you next Thursday!

One World One Heart 2011

Welcome to the international blog hop adventure known as One World One Heart!

The blog hop is hosted by Lisa at  A Whimsical Bohemian and the rules are ♥here♥  and the Fire Divas would like to add just ONE more for our players... PLEASE, please make it easy to get in touch with you if you win!!! The Divas have all participated before on this blog and our personal blogs and people we cannot reach are passed over for someone who makes it easy to get in touch with! So please, leave your email OR make sure your profile has an "email me" button!

A little bit about this blog: The Fire Divas are a team of artisan glass bead makers who support one another and promote the making of glass beads by hand! We believe that by promoting one another, we all benefit. Our blogs feature Bead of the Day, Fantasy Shopping, Gossip, and Diva of the Month as well as other informative articles about selling online/ in person. We all sell our lampworked glass beads in our various online shops (links both left and right) and that means... the give aways on this blog will be pretty and fabulous! We will draw ten winners, one prize per winner.

Comments are now closed.  Winners to be announced soon!

We have a treasure pendant in soft pastel colors created by Judith Billig of Icarus Beads. Lampwork focal bead in kalera shape with silver foil and wrapped into pastel colored shards. Softly etched and matched with 3 additional lampwork beads and charms with Swarovski and Czech crystals.

Rosemarie of Spawn of Flame has donated a Glass Lampwork Pendant with sterling silver findings and bail - ready to be placed on your chain or ribbon.

Judith Johnston - is donating this gorgeous purple off mandrel heart.

Susanne of Bab's Beads and Design is also donating a heart. This one is a red lampwork herat made to
a pendant with sterling silver parts and a clasp, so it can be attached to almost any chain or necklace you already have.

Hearts must be on the mind of the Divas (really, we just adore making beads!) because Holly Dare of HollysFolly Glass is also donating an off mandrel heart in shades of teal, green and lavender and features a yellow rose.

And for our final prize, Kathleen Robinson Young of Ugly Duckling Beads is donating a Hand fabricated sterling silver Interchangeable pendant, on a suede lace cord , and enhanced with a handmade Borosilicate lampwork bead.
