Susanne is our only European Diva! Her studio is located in a corner of her basement in Uppsala, Sweden. Uppsala is the fourth largets town in Uppsala and is the home of Swedens oldest university – Uppsala University – that was founded in 1477. The university is the reason Susanne moved there as she was studying economics and other social sciences. She was born in Swedish town called Västerås which is around 1025 years old!
Susanne started lampworking in May of 2007. She took a class and was so grumpy that she couldn't do it at home! After about six weeks, her hubby told her to buy a starter's kit and she did.
Susanne had a hard time describing which bead is her favorite bead to make over and over: "I love making florals of all kinds, fish and turtles. And goddesses. And Santas! (Though mostly for Christmas.) And dotted beads! I also make my Silvered Black beads a lot. I like that such a simple scheme still can be so versatile! And they are very popular at jewelery parties.
I think you can say I just love making beads! LOL!"
She claims she's too into trying new things to work on developing a style of her own. Susanne attributes this to being impatient and loving variety but adds, "But in some beads I think you can see me. It’s mainly in the fish, goddess and turtle beads – styles I love making and have developed my own form for. I think you can tell a Babs fish from another artists fish, but you will have to be the judge of that. "
Susanne loves making clean and smooth designs with colors that work well together.
