Lea comes from Long Island in a suburb of NYC, and has a studio set up in her garage. "Not the prettiest & on the small side, but it does the trick" she says. "It's wonderful to be just an hour into Manhattan 1 direction and 20 minutes to the ocean in another direction. I have the best of both worlds in my opinion."
Her current equipment setup is a Scorpion torch, a Glasshive kiln and a ventilation system for safety.
Lea was born in Romania. Her family came here to the US when she was just a little girl so she has very few memories of her life there. "All I DO remember is that we didn't have running water or electricity" she says. "Can you say outhouse?? LOL!"
She has been lampworking for close to 6 years and working with boro for about 4 of those years.
Her favorite type of bead, that she makes over and over, are these beauties (below):
Lea describes her style as eclectic. "My most fun sessions are days that I take out a new press to play with, silver colors, frit, etc. and just see where the glass takes me. I love making focal beads, skeleton key beads, hearts, organics, sets...just about anything. :-)"
And I'll leave you with Lea's links - stay tuned for next week's installment!
